As educators, teachers mold the minds and hearts of their students, cultivating generation after generation of Americans. They are integral parts of their community, and will have an impact on hundreds, if not thousands, of students and families in their career. On a policy-making level, teachers are natural advocates for their communities, with an acute understanding of the needs of our schools and our children. Moreover, women make up over 75 percent of the teaching force, making it an incredible pool of potential women candidates.
